MATERIAL OVERVIEW

The Material

Grey Picture Jasper is a trade-name siliceous stone with silver-grey, light grey, charcoal, black, and local cream tones. Fine dark outlines, wavy boundaries, and irregular patches can resemble maps, contour lines, or natural landscapes.

A smooth polish can make these grey and black pattern lines more distinct as they continue across the curved surfaces of a carving. Natural fractures, pattern boundaries, and thin edges remain part of the material variation.
