MATERIAL OVERVIEW

The Material

Lava Stone is a volcanic rock material, commonly dark grey to black, with naturally open pores formed as gas escaped from molten rock during cooling. The size, density, and distribution of these pores vary across the material.

Carving preserves much of this naturally porous texture. Raised polished areas may show a slight sheen while deeper pores remain dark and matte, creating a distinctive contrast across the finished piece.
