MATERIAL OVERVIEW

The Material

Money Agate is the commercial name Arcane Skull uses for a patterned, silica-rich carving material with angular fragments and contrasting veins. Cream, beige, rust-red, brown and black areas form a dense mosaic, with occasional translucent zones adding depth. The trade name does not identify one fixed mineral composition; the exact fragments and cement in this material have not been confirmed by testing.

A bright polish brings the fragment outlines and fine veins into focus as they pass across the crown, eye sockets and jaw. Different cuts reveal different balances of color and pattern, giving each carving its own composition. Inspect natural fractures, cavities and fragment boundaries individually, and protect thin carved details from impact.
