Sculpture & Aesthetics
An alien head has a way of making a shelf feel a little less ordinary. We like that unreadable face: the wide eyes, the small mouth, the oversized curve of the head. Look at it for a while and its expression seems to shift. Curious? Unimpressed? Quietly studying whoever has just walked into the room? Giving it a place among familiar things is part of the pleasure.
In carving it, we keep coming back to the eyes and the outline of the head. Small changes around the brow and narrow lower face can change its entire character. The smooth cranium gives the stone's color and markings room to show, while the recessed contours keep the gaze distinct. We enjoy that meeting of an unfamiliar visitor with a material that belongs very much to this planet.
Black Obsidian
Black Obsidian is natural volcanic glass formed when silica-rich molten rock cools too rapidly to develop an orderly crystal structure. It is typically black to brownish black, takes a highly reflective polish, and may show subtle natural variations in tone, inclusions, or flow structure.
I believe in obsidian’s grounding, protective energy and its connection with truth. I would keep it close as a boundary around my own energy, especially when other people’s negativity starts taking up too much space in my day.

Natural Variation & Care
Natural veils, inclusions and variations in color are part of the material’s character. Appearance may vary with lighting and screen settings.
Protect its glassy edges and fine details from drops, hard impacts, and contact with harder stones. Clean with water and a soft cloth; do not use abrasive products.
Support the sculpture by its main body or solid base. Protect projecting details and thin carved edges from knocks and pressure.
