Where natural quartz meets the mythic form of the dragon, this 2" Angolan Quartz Dragon Skull brings clear to softly translucent material, marked by natural clouding, internal fractures, inclusions, and growth textures, into a compact carved form. Its polished surface follows the dragon’s elongated snout, recessed eyes, horns, jaw, and layered details, allowing the character of the individual stone to remain visible throughout the sculpture.

Material & Craft

The Material

Angolan Quartz is a geographic trade description for transparent to translucent quartz sourced from Angola, not a separate mineral variety. It is composed of silica and may contain natural veils, growth lines, color zones, fractures, or mineral inclusions that become more visible through polishing.

The Sculpture

Hand-carved into a stylized dragon skull, the sculpture is built around a low, elongated profile with a broad snout, recessed eye sockets, and a heavy interlocking jaw. Swept-back horns and smaller crest points extend from the crown, while layered side plates frame the eyes and rear of the head. Deep cuts around the nostrils, teeth, brow, and plate boundaries create strong shadow and definition across the polished stone, and the broad underside provides a stable display base.

Form & Meaning

The dragon is an imagined creature that appears in many mythic traditions, but this form is not tied to any single culture. Its extended jaws, horns, and armored profile suggest strength, vigilance, and endurance. Reduced to a skull-like structure and carved in natural stone, the mythical animal gains a physical presence—a meeting point between geological material and the forms people have imagined across generations.

Natural Variation Statement & Care

As each piece is individually carved from natural stone, dimensions and weight may vary slightly, while color may appear different under varying lighting.

Care: Clean with lukewarm water, mild soap, and a soft cloth, then dry. Avoid strong impacts and thermal shock; do not use steam or ultrasonic cleaning on large or visibly fractured pieces.
